AUTUMN PLAYLIST

Sunday, 22 March 2015

Aloha! I always love these sort of posts on other blogs so I thought I'd hop on the bandwagon and make my own current playlist to share with you. I am so ready for Autumn (ie. one season closer to winter and cold weather) and am already trying to wear jeans and jackets to uni despite the fact it's still really not that cold at all! Here are my current songs I've had stuck in my head this season so far:

My Silver Lining- First Aid Kit
America- First Aid Kit
Stand Still- Flight Facilities
Scar- Cloud Control
Yellow Flicker Beat- Lorde
High- Peking Duk
Bois- François & The Atlas Mountains
Somebody's Talking- The Preatures
The Climber- Neil Finn
Digging Shelters- Neil Halstead

Ahh I just love all those songs so much! In other unrelated news, I have started posting on my tumblr again, so feel free to hop on over and have a look if you'd like.

Have a wonderful week!

HAIR DIY// HEAT FREE WAVES

Sunday, 8 March 2015

As a straight-haired gal, I could never understand why some people choose to straighten their curly/wavy hair. Since I was little I have always wanted wavy hair, however I was never game enough to try out a curling iron (me + klutziness + a hot object= third degree burns). So this is the little trick that I have found helpful on those days when you wish for a curly mane; no heat is required, and while the style falls out pretty quickly on my dead-straight hair if you used a bit of hairspray it will last a lot longer!

1// Put your hair in a high ponytail

2// Divide the ponytail into two sections. Plait each of the sections, so you have two separate plaits.

3// Twist the two plaits around each other to make a high top knot and pin into place.

4// Leave this in over night. The next morning your hair will be lovely and wavy!

3 YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY POST// THINGS I'VE LEARNT ABOUT BLOGGING

Tuesday, 3 March 2015

Aloha everyone!! Soooo a few exciting things have happened in the past week, namely the start of uni and the THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MY BLOG YAYAYYA WHAT HOW DID THAT HAPPEN SO FAST???!!! It literally feels crazy to even type that sentence... I swear it was only yesterday that I sat down to write my first post. And while I am trying not to make this sappy, I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all you lovely people who have been reading! I wasn't sure what sort of post I should write to commemorate this but I thought that I would share some things I've learnt about blogging during my three years as a blogger. Enjoy!

1// POST ABOUT WHAT YOU LOVE
This may seem really self-explanatory, but it's something that a lot of new bloggers seem to struggle with a bit. Only post content that YOU genuinely enjoy and find interesting- don't feel like your blog has to fit a mould or be like everyone else's. Find something that you enjoy writing about, whether it be craft, fashion, cooking etc and go for it! Otherwise, if you blog about a topic just because it seems popular rather than something that you actually enjoy, you will quickly run out of blog post ideas and blogging will be a whole lot less enjoyable.

2// QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
Again, this is pretty self-explanatory but so so important if you really want to take blogging seriously. A blog with high quality content that is updated once a month is a lot more appealing than a blog that uploads mediocre content every day. Find a blogging schedule that works well for you and stick to it; it doesn't matter if you update your blog daily, weekly or every couple of months as long as you are consistent and stick to this so that your readers know when to expect a new post. This is something that I have really struggled with over the years, but I am now getting into the rhythm of posting one a week (usually every Sunday) and have already noticed a dramatic rise in readers since beginning to post regularly!

3// MAKE FRIENDS
Essentially blogging is all about sharing content and connecting with readers, so making friends with other bloggers is really important if you want to make the most out of your blog. If someone comments on your post, then comment back or visit their site... who knows, you might both have a lot in common! Having blogging friends is such a great way to really integrate yourself into the blogging community and meet like-minded people from all over the world.

4// HAVE A SIMPLE LAYOUT
A blog with a clean, simple layout is a lot more appealing than a cluttered and unorganised blog. Studies have shown that readers are more likely to stay on a website with a white background (weird??), and a beautiful looking blog instantly catches the eye of readers who stumble across your site.
